From the Pastor

Weekly Signs and Wonders
January 19, 2010

The pictures and news stories continue to bring us to our knees in prayer to God related to the desperation in Haiti.  I cannot fathom that which is happening.

NMV has already responded to the cash donation needs and we will continue to ask for this in response to the earthquake.  We are also responding in other ways as well to the great needs in Haiti.  In addition to continued cash donations, health kits are in great need.  We have received information stating that the first drop-off dates are approaching very quickly:  Jan. 27 and Jan. 28.  We are looking for help in the following ways:

1)      Prepare health kits and drop off in the Parlor at NMV before Jan. 26.

2)      Need large card board boxes in which the health kits can be packed in at the drop off sights.

3)      Ralph and Jewel will deliver our health kits to Memorial UMC in Lexington on Jan. 27

4)      There is a possibility of a need to help pack boxes at the Mission Response Center in Mooresville.  Waiting on further information regarding this need.

Our children’s ministry groups will be assembling health kits on Sunday during SS as well as the Confirmation Class.  All groups are invited to participate in this effort.  If you would like assemble your own health kits, the contents are listed below.

I ask God to is give us the grace to be compassionate and gentle servants to those in need;  to remind us of His gracious love in the midst of sorrow, and to work miracles when hope is faint.

I give thanks to you for your witness in helping those in need, Sharon

Important Kit Assembly Information
All items included in kits must be NEW items.
All emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations. Since strict rules often govern product entry into international countries, it is important that kits contain only the requested items—nothing more.

Do NOT include any personal notes, money or additional materials in the kits. These things must be painstakingly removed and will delay the shipment.
